Due to his global work commitments, he sought a suitable residence in Europe. During his search, he came across a villa in a prime location in Cala Pi, Mallorca. The building was intended to serve not only as a holiday home but also as a suitable permanent residence for him and his family. In the long term, the customer plans to use the property with sea view and a roof terrace as a retirement home. To ensure that the entire family feels comfortable in their new home in Cala Pi and that the villa can be inhabited without restrictions in the future, it was necessary to address some moisture issues typical for Mallorca. Additionally, the customer placed great emphasis on a state-of-the-art and energy-efficient renovation to be able to fully enjoy his house with the comfortable roof terrace. ## The initial situation: Villa in Cala Pi shows significant moisture damage The building, built around 1990, is located on the first line of the sea and showed significant need for renovation. The roof terrace had been leaking for an extended period, leading to rising damp, a wet floor, and the development of mold due to condensation moisture. Previous attempts by local construction companies and painters to reduce moisture in the holiday home had failed. The measures often practiced in Spain had not resolved the moisture problems. In past work, the causes were never addressed, only the symptoms were temporarily mitigated. Before starting the renovation of the holiday home, ISOTEC Mallorca presented the customer various proposal options to chose. ## The right partner: ISOTEC Specialist Company / ISOTEC Mallorca B.W.Z. Spanien SL. After inspecting the property, ISOTEC Mallorca planned to contain the rising damp using the proven ISOTEC Horizontal Barrier and to carry out additional work. Since the customer could not be on-site during the renovation work, he prioritized collaborating with an experienced and reputable company. We were able to convince him with a 100 percent success rate and a 10-year warranty, acting as a reliable contact throughout the implementation of the various measures. Furthermore, the businessman knew his property in Cala Pi was in best hands. ## The solution: ISOTEC Horizontal Barrier combined with additional Work During the renovation period in 2021 and 2022, a comprehensive refurbishment was carried out, focusing on measures to eliminate moisture-related problems. The main work included the installation of an efficient ISOTEC Horizontal Barrier to effectively prevent rising damp.
