ISOTEC interior waterproofing with the 4plus layer system
If the construction scenario makes it impossible to apply waterproofing (protective layer to prevent moisture from entering a building) from the outside, we use ISOTEC’s interior waterproofing. This procedure ensures that basement rooms are safely sealed and can be used for high-value purposes
The individual steps of ISOTEC interior waterproofing
The problem: moisture entering from the side
Moisture penetrating from the side enters the building substance in the area touching the earth. The cause is faulty or absent exterior waterproofing. Interior waterproofing is the optimum solution if it is not possible to fix the outside.
The ISOTEC system solution
1. Levelling plaster (first layer)
After exposing and cleaning the masonry, the ISOTEC sealing plaster is applied to the whole surface. This is a special mortar enhanced with plaster. It ensures optimum adhesion and evenly spread strength of the layers to follow - the requirement for functional waterproofing (protective layer to prevent moisture from entering a building). The moisture-proof, water-resistant sealing plaster is applied all the way down to the foundation slab and thus joins the entire floor-wall connection to the waterproofing.
2. Interior waterproofing (second and third layer)
Special sealing putties are applied in two layers, one after another. These flexible materials form the actual waterproofing layers. They are watertight and gap-sealing, and thus ensure permanent protection from moisture in the waterproofed wall areas.
3. Heat insulation and protective layer (fourth layer)
The ISOTEC climatisation panel in calcium silicate ensures additional heat insulation and a pleasant room climate. It holds moisture that it then releases over a large area into the surrounding air when the room’s humidity sinks. An alternative to the ISOTEC climatisation panel in calcium silicate can be the application of a special vapour-permeable plaster (see also ISOTEC information on special plaster).

ISOTEC interior waterproofing in a comparison test
All ISOTEC products are tested under the strictest practical experiment conditions. Together with leading manufacturers, ISOTEC has tested 12 interior waterproofing systems. Only two passed the ISOTEC long term test. Most systems cannot sufficiently stand firm against the water pressure. Water pushes through the joins. In the test results, the ISOTEC system proved to be permanently sealed and is the system that can mechanically bear the heaviest load.
